Update on Improvements at Migrant Worker Dormitories Regarding Food Storage and Food Drop-off Points
Ministry of ManpowerSpeakers

14 Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang asked the Minister for Manpower other than ensuring that food storage points are adequate and sheltered, what other improvements have the Ministry's inspectors required dormitory operators to make with regard to food storage and drop-off points for food for migrant workers.
Dr Tan See Leng: Under the Foreign Employee Dormitories Act (FEDA), dormitory operators must take reasonable measures to ensure that food delivered is protected from contamination until collected by residents. Based on feedback from the Ministry of Manpower and residents, improvements introduced by some dormitory operators include the installation of properly secured shelves, the use of insulated storage containers and enhancements to the food collection processes. We encourage dormitory operators to continue looking into ways to improve the food storage and collection situations in their respective dormitories.
