About Second Reading
Second Reading was born out of a desire to make it easier for the general public to keep up with what's happening in Singapore's Parliament. Despite the Hansard being publicly available, the format of the official reports can be rather unwieldy for sifting through, and it is our hope that this site will provide a cleaner, more modern interface to access the information they contain.
Second Reading is an independent project and is not affiliated with the Singapore Government in any way. It is open sourced under the MIT license, and the code is available on GitHub. If you have any feedback, suggestions, or bug reports, please feel free to open an issue on the GitHub repository.
The Hansard data from before 2012 is stored in a different format that makes it difficult to extract and organise in the way that we have done here. As such, we have decided to include all data from the first full election cycle after this change in format, which is the 2015 General Election. MPs elected in this election formed the 13th Parliament, which first sat on 15 January 2016.
Some content includes AI-generated summaries to help readers quickly understand the key points of parliamentary proceedings. These summaries are provided for convenience and should not be considered official records. Always refer to the original Hansard for authoritative information.
Note: AI-generated content is marked with a distinctive indicator and should be verified against official records.
All data on parliamentary proceedings is sourced from the official Hansard, whose copyright is owned by the Singapore Government. Additional information about the structure of Parliament is sourced from the official Parliament of Singapore website.
