Professional Liability Insurance for Childminders Given Trial Run of Childminding Service

57 Ms Carrie Tan asked the Minister for Social and Family Development in view of the announcements to trial a pilot childminding service for children up to 18 months old, whether the Ministry will be looking into making available professional liability insurance for childminders to safeguard their interests.

Mr Masagos Zulkifli B M M: Under the infant childminding pilot, the Early Childhood Development Agency will appoint childminding operators, who will, in turn, engage childminders to provide the services.

We are consulting potential operators on how they would manage their business risks when providing services on the pilot, including through the use of insurance where appropriate.
