Percentage of Schools and Tertiary Institutions with Lactation Facilities for Nursing Mothers

19 Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang asked the Minister for Education what is the percentage of schools and tertiary education institutions that currently have (i) a lactation room and (ii) a suitable room for nursing mothers to use, respectively.

Mr Chan Chun Sing: About 95% of primary schools, 80% of secondary schools and 90% of junior colleges/centralised institutes have a lactation room, while the remaining schools have a suitable room for nursing mothers to use. For these remaining schools, the Ministry of Education is working with them to set up dedicated lactation rooms.

All autonomous universities, polytechnics and the Institutes of Technical Education campuses are equipped with at least one lactation room.
