Number of Singapore Foreign Spouses Granted PR and Citizenship in 2016

23 Mr Gan Thiam Poh asked the Minister for Home Affairs how many foreign spouses of Singaporeans have been granted PR and citizenship respectively in 2016.

Mr K Shanmugam: Foreign spouses married to Singapore Citizens (SCs) may be granted Permanent Residence (PR) and, subsequently, Singapore Citizenship (SC), under the Family Ties Scheme.

In 2016, around 4,600 and 3,400 foreign spouses of SCs were granted PR and SC respectively.
