Speakers

Transcript

1 Mr Leong Mun Wai asked the Prime Minister whether the Government, as the largest employer in Singapore, will consider supporting the professionalisation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Singapore, by extending the subsidy for public officers’ medical expenses to cover TCM treatments performed at clinics by practitioners who are registered with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board.

Mr Chan Chun Sing (for the Prime Minister): The Civil Service subsidises standard medical treatments, tests and medication for officers. This includes TCM acupuncture treatments administered under the direction and referral of a doctor registered with the Singapore Medical Council, and carried out at hospitals and clinics registered under the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act.
