Expansion of Non-Traditional Sources Occupation List to Include Healthcare Cleaners

21 Mr Gan Thiam Poh asked the Minister for Manpower whether the Non-Traditional Sources Occupation List can be expanded to include healthcare cleaners.

Dr Tan See Leng: The occupations on the Non-Traditional Source (NTS) Occupation List were selected carefully based on sector agencies’ recommendations, taking into account factors, such as the impact on local employment and wages, and the potential for automation. The Ministry of Manpower will work with sector agencies to assess whether healthcare cleaners should be placed on the NTS Occupation List as part of our regular review.
