Eligible Voters Among Singaporeans Residing Overseas

3 Mr Leong Mun Wai asked the Prime Minister (a) how many eligible voters are among the Singaporeans residing overseas; and (b) which are the top 30 countries that overseas Singaporean voters reside in and their respective number in each country.

Mr Chan Chun Sing (for the Prime Minister): The number of registered overseas electors will only be known when the applications to be an overseas elector have been processed after the application deadline, that is, by the second calendar day after the issue of the writ of election.

At the last General Election in 2020 (GE2020), 6,570 Singaporeans living overseas registered to vote at the 10 overseas polling stations. Those living in countries without an overseas polling station are not likely to register to vote as an overseas elector. The breakdown of registered electors by overseas polling station for GE2020 is given in the table below.
