Transcript
9 Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang asked the Minister for Social and Family Development for 2023, what is the annual median and average monthly income of single unwed parents (i) below 35 years old (ii) between 35 and 36 years old and (iii) 36 years old and above, respectively.
Mr Masagos Zulkifli B M M: In 2023, the average monthly income of working citizen mothers with non-marital births was $2,500 for those below 35 years and $8,000 for those aged 35 years and above. The median was $1,000 for those below 35 years and $5,400 for those aged 35 years and above.
Incomes for those below age 35 years were lower as they also included young mothers who may work in part-time jobs or only for a few months of the year.
As explained in the replies to similar questions in November 2022 and March 2024, wage information for the single age band of 35 to 36 years is not separately presented due to small population size.
