9 Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang asked the Minister for Social and Family Development in each year for the past five years (a) how many individuals have applied for the Assistive Technology Fund; (b) how many applications have been successful each year; (c) what is the mean and median subsidy amount for successful cases; and (d) how many appeals have there been for further disbursements beyond the $40,000 cap and, if so, how many appeals have been successful.
Mr Masagos Zulkifli B M M: The Assistive Technology Fund (ATF) provides eligible persons with disabilities with a means-tested subsidy of up to 90% of the cost of the required equipment, subject to a lifetime cap of $40,000. About 9,100 individuals have applied for the ATF from 2019 to 2023, of which 98% of applications were successful. The mean subsidy amount supported is $1,520 and the median subsidy amount supported is $1,020.
SG Enable has not received any appeals for further disbursements beyond the $40,000 lifetime cap.
