42 Mr Melvin Yong Yik Chye asked the Minister for Transport (a) whether the Ministry can provide an update on the Call-for-Collaboration (CFC) for the Pilot Deployment of Autonomous Buses and Shuttles in Singapore that was jointly launched by LTA and EDB, in which the submission of CFC proposal had closed on 31 July 2019; and (b) when will the pilot deployment of autonomous buses and on-demand shuttles be implemented in Punggol, Tengah and the Jurong Innovation District.

Mr S Iswaran: LTA and EDB are negotiating with shortlisted consortia following their submissions for the pilot deployment of Autonomous Vehicle (AVs) under a Call-for-Collaboration (CFC).

Upon award, the successful consortia will need time to develop the technology and prepare for the pilot deployment at the shortlisted location(s) – to ensure public safety and minimise risks. LTA and the selected consortia will also engage the local community leaders before finalising any deployment.
