Transfer of Flats under 2-room Flexi Scheme for Seniors

22 Ms Sylvia Lim asked the Minister for National Development with regard to flats under the 2-room flexi scheme for seniors (a) whether HDB has approved or will consider approving the transfer of such flats to a family member or estate beneficiary of the lessee should the lessee pass away before lease expiry; and (b) if so, under what conditions or circumstances such approval has been or will be granted.

Mr Lawrence Wong: If the sole owner of a short-lease 2-room Flexi Flat passes away before lease expiry, the flat can be transferred to a named beneficiary if that individual fulfills the eligibility criteria to own the short-lease 2-room Flexi Flat.

If the beneficiary is not eligible to retain the flat, HDB will reimburse him/her the value of the residual lease.
