30 Mr Gan Thiam Poh asked the Minister for Manpower (a) how many requests and appeals have been received and approved for foreign domestic workers to be allowed entry into Singapore during the circuit breaker period to support residents' needs; and (b) what is the number of approvals by country.
Mrs Josephine Teo: Since the outbreak of COVID-19, many countries including Singapore have imposed travel restrictions and border controls. For work pass holders, entry approvals are limited to reduce the importation risk of COVID-19 cases and to protect public health.
During the circuit breaker period, the Ministry approved 630 requests for foreign domestic workers (FDWs) mainly from Indonesia, the Philippines and Myanmar to enter Singapore, out of about 4,100 entry approval applications and appeals received.
