54 Ms Mariam Jaafar asked the Minister for Manpower (a) whether the Ministry has observed that Singaporeans who were retrenched in the past 12 months are taking longer to secure new employment compared to those retrenched in the preceding 12 months; and (b) if so, whether any observed differences are attributable to structural shifts, such as sector restructuring or skills mismatches.

Dr Tan See Leng: Re-entry durations have remained broadly stable. On average, retrenched residents took about 2.6 months to find new jobs in 2025, slightly longer than 2.5 months in 2024.
