Provision of Vehicle's Certificate of Insurance to Drivers of Private Hire Cars

86 Mr Ang Hin Kee asked the Minister for Transport whether the Ministry will consider requiring private hire car leasing companies to provide their drivers each with a certified original copy of the vehicle's Certificate of Insurance to ensure that drivers are fully aware of their own accident excess liabilities and other vehicle-related risks.

Mr Khaw Boon Wan: It is the drivers' responsibility to ensure that they apprise themselves fully of the car's insurance coverage, liabilities and other terms and conditions, before entering into an agreement with the car leasing company. We will also bring their attention to it by including it in the curriculum for the Private Hire Car Driver Vocational Licence.
