Proposal for Tiering of COEs for Motorcycles of Different Engine Capacities

95 Mr Abdul Samad asked the Minister for Transport whether the Certificate of Entitlement for motorcycles can be tiered according to their engine capacity especially for those 200cc and below.

Mr S Iswaran: Unlike cars, the quota for motorcycle Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) is relatively small. Further dividing the motorcycle COEs into multiple tiers would result in even smaller quotas for each sub-category and may result in significant volatility in their COE prices.

We understand that the high motorcycle COE prices have raised concerns from Members of this House. LTA is monitoring the market situation closely and will respond as needed.
