Policy for Patients under MediSave 700 Scheme to be Treated at Only One Hospital

Speakers

Transcript

8 Mr Leon Perera asked the Minister for Health (a) whether it is a prerequisite for qualification under the MediSave700 scheme that all of a patient's conditions must be treated at only one hospital; and (b) if so, what is the reason for this policy.

Mr Ong Ye Kung: Patients who seek treatment at multiple medical institutions for their chronic complex conditions are eligible for the $700 limit.

We are working to enhance our claims system to automatically identify patients who are receiving treatment for different Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) conditions at different medical institutions within the year. In the interim, patients with complex chronic conditions and who are unable to use up to $700 a year from their MediSave for their treatment can call the Healthcare Hotline at 1800 222 3399 to request for the higher $700 withdrawal limit.
