Plans to Enhance Data Collection and Analysis to Assess Role of Fatigue and Sleep Deprivation in Traffic Accidents

12 Mr Edward Chia Bing Hui asked the Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs (a) whether there are plans to enhance data collection or analysis to better assess the role of fatigue and sleep deprivation as contributing factors in traffic accidents in Singapore; and (b) whether the Ministry will consider introducing specific indicators or reporting mechanisms to capture such factors.

Mr K Shanmugam: Fatigue is a known contributory factor of traffic accidents. This is one of the factors highlighted in Traffic Police's road safety education materials.

There are no plans to collect additional data or indicators.
