34 Ms Joan Pereira asked the Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth following the hosting of the World Aquatics Championships 2025 (a) what are the plans for the temporary facilities; and (b) whether they will be extended for other uses.

Mr David Neo: The World Aquatics Championships Arena (WCH Arena) received positive feedback from international and local spectators, athletes and officials. Following the completion of a feasibility study, we are pleased to announce that the use of the WCH Arena will be extended until 2030.

The WCH Arena will complement existing ActiveSG swimming facilities and be open for public use and national team training. This means Singaporeans will be able to swim in the same pool where top international and TeamSG aquatics athletes, such as Katie Ledecky and Gan Chin Hwee, competed in. The WCH Arena could also be used to host future aquatics events, such as the Southeast Asian Games and ASEAN Para Games in 2029.

Public can look forward to using the WCH Arena by end October. More details will be shared in the coming weeks.
