Occupancy and Monthly Rental Rates at New Commercial Dormitories

51 Mr Chua Kheng Wee Louis asked the Minister for Manpower in each year of the last five years till date, what are the average (i) occupancy and (ii) monthly rental rates of new contracts signed for commercial dormitory beds at workers' dormitories.

Dr Tan See Leng: The average occupancy rate of dormitories last year was around 97% – or close to full occupancy. In comparison, the occupancy rate in 2019 (pre-COVID-19) was around 90%. The median monthly rental rate was about $450 per bed last year, compared to around $300 per bed in 2019.
