Number of Vehicle Owners Who Benefited from Electric Vehicle Early Adoption Incentive Since Its Launch

19 Mr Melvin Yong Yik Chye asked the Minister for Transport (a) since its launch on 1 January 2021, how many vehicle owners have benefited from the Electric Vehicle Early Adoption Incentive (EEAI); and (b) how much has the EEAI cost the Government thus far.

Mr S Iswaran: As of end 2021, 1,636 electric cars and taxis registered since 1 January 2021 benefited from the Electric Vehicle Early Adoption Incentive (EEAI). Overall, the proportion of electric cars and taxis registered has increased from ~0.2% in 2020 to ~4.4% in 2021.

The rebates given under the EEAI scheme in 2021 are about $30 million.
