Lengthen Time for Student Movement between Classes

26 Ms Joan Pereira asked the Minister for Education whether the Ministry can lengthen the time for student movement between classes to give students more time to get to their class and settle down as rushing from class to class causes anxiety and reduces concentration during lesson time.
Mr Ong Ye Kung: Schools plan students' daily timetable with their well-being as an important consideration. Hence, they incorporate sufficient breaks and constrain the length of school day, while ensuring adequate time for learning.
An increase in the time for student movement between classes will lead to school days ending later. Teachers are mindful to end lessons on time for students to move to the next venue if need be, as well as allow the students to settle down before commencing the next lesson.
Between class movement is usually not a source of student stress. Teachers are equipped to observe signs of stress in students and will provide the needed interventions if a case arises.
