Incorporating Mentoring and Tacit Knowledge Roles in Job Redesign for Older Employees and Sector-Specific Promotion Plans
Ministry of ManpowerSpeakers
Transcript
61 Mr Jackson Lam asked the Minister for Manpower (a) whether the Ministry's job redesign policies for older employees explicitly account for the prospects of (i) mentoring younger employees and (ii) engaging tacit knowledge acquired from their long work histories; (b) whether the Ministry has any plans to promote such prospects; and (c) if so, which specific sectors are within the scope of the Ministry's plans.
Dr Tan See Leng: The Government does not prescribe specific job redesign policy requirements for older employees. We take a broad-based approach to promote age-friendly employment practices across all sectors, including supporting employers to re-design roles and work processes to better leverage the knowledge and experiences of senior workers.
