Importation of Nuclear-generated Energy

4 Mr Gan Thiam Poh asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry whether the Government will consider importing electricity or energy that is generated by nuclear plants from other countries.

Mr Gan Kim Yong: Based on our current understanding, countries in the region are still studying the potential deployment of nuclear energy and have yet to make a firm decision on it. It is, therefore, premature to discuss importing electricity that is generated by nuclear plants from other countries.
