Five- and Ten-year-old HDB Flats Sold in Last Five Years

2 Mr Gan Thiam Poh asked the Minister for National Development (a) how many five-year-old to ten-year-old HDB flats have been sold in the last five years; (b) what are the reasons for these sales; and (c) how many flats have been sold under each of these reasons.

Mr Lawrence Wong: Between 2012 and 2016, close to 33,000 HDB flats which had been owned by their sellers for between five and 10 years, were sold in the open market, or an average of about 6,600 flats sold per year.

Resale flat sellers are not required to disclose their reasons for sale to HDB.
