Expanding Scope of PWD Taxi Subsidy Scheme to Include Transportation for All SkillsFuture-Funded Training
Ministry of Social and Family DevelopmentSpeakers
Transcript
39 Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan asked the Minister for Social and Family Development whether the Ministry will consider extending the scope of the Persons with Disabilities' (PWDs) Taxi Subsidy Scheme beyond transportation for school, work or employment-related training supported by SG Enable, to also cover transportation for all training eligible for SkillsFuture funding.
Mr Masagos Zulkifli B M M: The Taxi Subsidy Scheme supports persons with disabilities (PwDs) who are unable to take public transport, by providing means-tested subsidies to offset the cost of taxi travel to school, work and employment-related training supported by SG Enable.
SG Enable decides on the SkillsFuture courses that are supportable, taking into consideration the relevance of the course to employability and whether the course is suitably designed and provides appropriate learning support for PwDs. The list of endorsed courses can be found on SG Enable's and SkillsFuture's websites.
SG Enable will continually review its list of endorsed courses and remains open to expanding it where appropriate. PwDs or training providers who wish to have a course considered for endorsement can approach SG Enable.
