Ministry of TransportSpeakers
Summary
This question concerns the criteria for evaluating joint industry projects called by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to enhance maritime resilience post-COVID-19, as raised by Miss Cheryl Chan Wei Ling. Minister for Transport Ong Ye Kung detailed that projects must be Singapore-based, involve at least two industry partners, and be led by Singapore-incorporated companies or recognized classification societies. The evaluation focuses on industry relevance, innovation, capability development, local value capture, and team competency to ensure the sector's long-term competitiveness. A committee of MPA officers and industry experts is currently assessing the proposals based on their potential impact and differentiation from existing solutions. The selection process is being conducted in consultation with the Singapore Shipping Association, with the final results expected to be announced in November 2020.
