Direct School Admission Applications and Success Rates for Gifted Education Programme Students

17 Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Education in the past five years (a) how many students in the Gifted Education Programme (GEP) have applied for Direct School Admission (DSA) into secondary schools; and (b) how many students in GEP have been successful in at least one DSA application.

Mr Chan Chun Sing: Over the past five years, around 200 students on the GEP were admitted to Secondary 1 via the Direct School Admission Exercise for Secondary Schools (DSA-Sec) each year. This is a small proportion of the total student cohort of 3,800 which are admitted via DSA-Sec every year.
