14 Dr Tan Wu Meng asked the Minister for Manpower (a) for each year in the past three years, how many working-age Singaporeans started dialysis, broken down by (i) haemodialysis and (ii) peritoneal dialysis; (b) how many of these Singaporeans are in employment (i) one year before starting dialysis (ii) at the time of starting dialysis and (iii) one year after starting dialysis; and (c) for these Singaporeans who stopped employment, whether the Ministry is aware of what the reasons are.

Dr Tan See Leng: On part (a), the number of working-age Singapore residents who started haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis in 2017, 2018 and 2019, is provided in Table 1 below. The latest year available currently is 2019.

On parts (b) and (c), MOM has not done such a granular study before. We can explore with MOH on how to do a deeper dive into labour market trends for persons with certain health conditions, while ensuring patient confidentiality is respected.
