76 Ms Yeo Wan Ling asked the Minister for Manpower (a) in 2025, how many platform workers born before 1 January 1995 have opted in to make CPF contributions; (b) whether the reasons for not opting in are recorded; and (c) if so, what are the top three reasons.

Dr Tan See Leng: After the Platform Workers Act came into effect on 1 January 2025, platform workers born before 1 January 1995 may opt to increase their Central Provident Fund contributions beyond their mandatory MediSave contributions. About 26,500, or 27%, of such platform workers have opted in as of September 2025. Among platform workers who rely on platform work as their primary or sole source of income, the opt-in rate is higher at 32%. Ministry of Manpower does not collect information on the reasons for not opting in.

We will continue to work with platform operators and platform work associations to reach out to platform workers to encourage more to opt in.
