5 Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan asked the Minister for Education (a) from 2019 to 2023, what is the annual number of persons with criminal records or criminal antecedents who undertook SkillsFuture courses; and (b) if such data is unavailable, whether the Ministry will collect this data to provide ex-offenders a better second chance.

Mr Chan Chun Sing: The Ministry of Education does not track the number of learners with criminal records or criminal antecedents who undertook SkillsFuture courses.

Under the national SkillsFuture movement, the Government is committed to providing all Singaporeans with the opportunities to develop to their fullest potential throughout life. To enhance ex-offenders' skills and career development opportunities, SkillsFuture Singapore works closely with Yellow Ribbon Singapore and training providers to provide skills training and employment facilitation for ex-offenders.
