Ministry of ManpowerSpeakers
Transcript
34 Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan asked the Minister for Manpower for each year from 2021 to date (a) what is the number of companies that have failed to file a mandatory retrenchment notification (MRN) within the requisite period; and (b) what is the number of companies that have incurred penalties for failing to comply with this requirement.
Dr Tan See Leng: From January 2021 to June 2025, the Ministry of Manpower received around 19,800 Mandatory Retrenchment Notification (MRN) submissions. Of these, 5,750 were submitted later than the requisite period of five working days after affected employees were notified.
Most of the non-compliant employers were issued with caution letters and were cooperative in filing MRNs thereafter.
