42 Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan asked the Minister for Manpower regarding cases filed with the Employment Claims Tribunal for each year from 2021 to 2023, what is the breakdown of the number of cases: (i) filed with the tribunal; (ii) where there was a hearing; (iii) filed by employers; and (iv) filed by employees.

Dr Tan See Leng: From January 2021 to November 2023, 3,110 claims were filed at the Employment Claims Tribunals. Majority of these claims were resolved at the case management conference (CMC). Around 30% of these claims were not resolved at the CMC and were fixed for a hearing.

Out of the 3,110 claims, about 86% were filed by employees while the remaining 14% were filed by employers.
