102 Mr Shawn Huang Wei Zhong asked the Minister for Communications and Information in view of the proliferation of mobile gadgets and accessibility to mobile games (a) whether the Ministry has data on the average weekly consumption, in terms of time and money spent respectively, on mobile games for those (i) aged seven to 12, (ii) aged 13 to 18 and (iii) under the age of 35; and (b) whether the Ministry has conducted any consumption impact studies for the current consumption levels.

Mrs Josephine Teo: MCI does not have specific data or studies on consumption of time and money spent on mobile games.

The Government monitors global trends and, if necessary, will undertake local studies to better understand specific issues. We also encourage parents to take an active role in monitoring and guiding the activities of children, to help them cultivate healthy habits and personal responsibility.
