Animal Welfare and Cruelty Complaints Lodged against Pet Boarders and Groomers

25 Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang asked the Minister for National Development in each year for the past five years (a) how many animal welfare and cruelty complaints have been lodged against (i) pet boarders and (ii) pet groomers; and (b) what are the top three complaints raised against (i) pet boarders and (ii) pet groomers, respectively.

Mr Desmond Lee: The number of complaints against pet boarders and pet groomers relating to animal welfare and cruelty concerns received by the National Parks Board (NParks) in the last three years is shown in Table 1 below.

The most common complaints against pet boarders include, overcrowding of pets in facilities, dog walking practices and noise disamenities from dog barking. Complaints against pet groomers primarily involve allegations of injuries to animals during the grooming process.
