Use of MediSave for Family Members

35 Ms Mariam Jaafar asked the Minister for Health (a) in the past three years, how many Singaporeans have used their MediSave for family members; and (b) of these, how many reached their MediSave withdrawal limits for family members within the year.

Mr Ong Ye Kung: Between 2020 and 2022, around 180,000 to 220,000 Singapore Citizens used their MediSave to pay for their family members' healthcare expenses per year. These make up about 16% of SCs who used MediSave for healthcare expenses.

To encourage mutual support within the family, there are no specific MediSave withdrawal limits for one's family members. However, such withdrawals are still subject to the treatment-specific MediSave withdrawal limits that are sized to be sufficient for subsidised patients.
