Tracking Compliance with Mandated Vaccinations Against Measles and Diphtheria
Ministry of HealthSpeakers
Transcript
19 Dr Choo Pei Ling asked the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health (a) whether the Ministry keeps track of and ensures that the children's compulsory vaccinations against measles and diphtheria have been taken; (b) if so, what has been the compliance rate; and (c) what actions are taken when the children have not taken the compulsory vaccinations.
Mr Ong Ye Kung: In 2024, the measles vaccination coverages at two and seven years were 93% and 97% respectively. For diphtheria, the vaccination coverages at two and 11 years of age were 89% and 95% respectively. The coverages have remained high for years, and may be found in the Reports on Communicable Diseases Surveillance in Singapore.
To cover children who have yet to receive the vaccinations, we send HealthHub notifications and reminder letters to parents, reach out during preschool enrolment where proof of immunity is required, and provide catch-up vaccination in primary and secondary schools.
