76 Dr Charlene Chen asked the Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Minister for Health whether the Ministry will review the funding model for Active Ageing Centres to allow greater flexibility for seniors to attend centres outside their designated service boundaries where this would better support their social connections and mental well-being.

Mr Ong Ye Kung: While each Active Ageing Centre (AAC) has a service boundary, AACs are expected to serve seniors staying outside the boundary. This is taken into account in the funding model. That said, on the ground, staff or volunteers at AACs may inadvertently turn away seniors who are not staying in the vicinity. Local community leaders and Grassroots Advisors can play a major role in reminding them and reinforcing the implementation of our policy.
