30 Assoc Prof Fatimah Lateef asked the Minister for Health whether there are plans to review and assess the sales, content and costing of milk products and milk supplements for adults, especially for those who are on dietary supplementation and tube feeding.

Mr Gan Kim Yong: The safety of milk products and supplements is regulated by the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) under the Singapore Food Regulations. Food manufacturers and importers must ensure that they are safe and suitable for consumption.

There is a variety of adult milk products and supplements for different needs and at different price ranges available in the market today. There are no plans to regulate the sales and prices of adult milk products and supplements for now. Seniors who require such products and are in need of financial assistance can apply to the Seniors' Mobility and Enabling Fund (SMF) for means-tested subsidies to defray the costs of such products. More than 4,000 beneficiaries have received subsidies for milk products and supplements from SMF to date.

We will continue to monitor the situation to support seniors who are in need.
