Recipients of Sinovac Vaccine to Date and Its Adverse Effects

69 Mr Yip Hon Weng asked the Minister for Health (a) to date, how many people have received a dose of the Sinovac vaccine; (b) what adverse effects have been reported from taking the Sinovac vaccine; and (c) whether the Ministry will provide periodic updates on adverse reactions as it does for the mRNA vaccines so patients can make informed decisions.

Mr Ong Ye Kung: As at 3 July 2021, a total of 17,296 unique individuals have received one dose of the Sinovac-CoronaVac vaccine.

Some individuals cannot take the mRNA vaccines due to medical reasons. Providers will not charge these groups of individuals for the vaccination and MOH will reimburse the providers directly.

Vaccination with Sinovac-CoronaVac started on the 18 June 2021. As at 29 June 2021, two non-serious adverse event reports have been received. MOH and HSA will continue to monitor this and will provide an update if any significant safety concern is detected.
