Rationale for Change in Policy on Disclosure of Full NRIC Numbers

52 Mr Patrick Tay Teck Guan asked the Minister for Digital Development and Information (a) what is the reason for the change in the Government's position to allow for public disclosure of NRIC numbers on ACRA's website; and (b) how will this change align with existing provisions of the Advisory Guidelines on Personal Data Protection Act for NRIC and other National Identification Numbers, given that public agencies in Singapore are already excluded from the Data Protection Provisions of the PDPA.
