Quantitative Noise Threshold in Decibels to Help in Assessment of Egregious Cases of Neighbourhood Noise

66 Mr Pritam Singh asked the Minister for National Development whether the Ministry will implement the recommendation by the Community Advisory Panel on Neighbourhood Noise on a quantitative noise threshold in the form of decibels to help in the assessment of egregious cases of neighbourhood noise.

Mr Desmond Lee: The review on whether to establish a residential noise threshold is ongoing. The Municipal Services Office is partnering researchers from the Nanyang Technological University to determine if noise thresholds adopted elsewhere are relevant to the Singapore context and, if so, how they could be applied practically in regulation and dispute resolution.

As I have previously updated the House, we plan to complete this review by the end of this year.
