Plans to Allow Reopening of Family KTVs and Expected Safe Management Measures

8 Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Trade and Industry given the recent streamlining of COVID-19 measures (a) what is the status of plans to allow the reopening of family KTVs; and (b) what are the expected safe management measures that will be applied.

Mr Gan Kim Yong: MTI and MHA have announced their intention to reopen the nightlife sector, including karaoke establishments, on 19 April 2022. The Safe Management Measures (SMMs) will include the five core parameters on group sizes; mask-wearing; workplace requirements; safe distancing; and capacity limits. For nightlife establishments where customers will be dancing, supervised Antigen Rapid Test (ART) will be required for customers before entering the premises.
