Number of Households with GST Voucher-U-Save Net Balances of More Than $20 by HDB Flat Type

5 Mr Edward Chia Bing Hui asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance what is the current number of households with GST Voucher-U-Save net balances of more than $20 broken down by (i) HDB flat types and (ii) percentage of total number of dwelling units per flat type.

Mr Lawrence Wong: The GST Voucher (GSTV) – U-Save provides HDB households with quarterly rebates to offset their utilities bills.

As at 31 March 2022, about 6% of HDB households (60,673 households in total) have GSTV – U-Save balances above $20 (see Table 1 for breakdown by HDB flat type). A higher proportion of 1- and 2-room HDB households have GSTV – U-Save balances above $20, as such households receive more U-Save rebates and tend to have lower monthly utilities bills. $20 corresponds to around a quarter of their average monthly utilities bills.

HDB households with U-Save balances can continue tapping on the rebates to defray their utilities expenses.
