Number and Average Rents of HDB Eating Houses in Tenders where Contracts were Awarded to Bidders Who Did Not Bid the Highest

117 Ms Gho Sze Kee asked the Minister for National Development since HDB introduced the Price-Quality Method for eating house tenders in 2018 (a) how many of the tenders have been awarded to a bidder other than the highest bidder; and (b) what has been the average rent difference in those cases.

Mr Chee Hong Tat: The Housing and Development Board has awarded 65 price-quality method tenders for eating houses since its introduction in 2018. Of these, 40 were awarded to a bidder other than the highest bidder, with the average monthly rent being $38 per square metre lower than the highest bidder.
