21 Ms Valerie Lee asked the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment how are resident complaints on mosquito prevalence further assessed and addressed when NEA inspections find no active mosquito breeding in the area, even though residents continue to report experiencing mosquito nuisance.
Ms Grace Fu Hai Yien: When the National Environment Agency (NEA) receives feedback on mosquito nuisance, inspections are carried out in the vicinity of the reported location to identify potential mosquito breeding habitats. NEA collaborates with relevant stakeholders, such as Town Councils and premises operators, to enhance mosquito prevention measures when necessary. To better identify areas with higher mosquito populations and potential breeding sources, NEA also cross references feedback with mosquito population surveillance data from Gravitraps.
