Measuring Economic Value of Senior Bus Captains Mentoring and Accompanying New Bus Captains on Live Routes

Speakers

Transcript

75 Mr Jackson Lam asked the Acting Minister for Transport (a) whether the Government measures the economic value of senior bus captains tasked with (i) mentoring new bus captains, and (ii) accompanying new bus captains on live routes; and (b) if so, how so.

Mr Jeffrey Siow: The Government does not specifically track the economic value of senior bus captains mentoring new bus captains and providing on-the-job training.

However, bus operators do acknowledge the valuable role that senior bus captains play in guiding and mentoring newer colleagues, and reflect this through higher salaries or allowances.
