Maximum and Median Number of Applications for Successful First-time HDB Flat Applicants

57 Ms Jessica Tan Soon Neo asked the Minister for National Development in 2019 and 2020 to date, what is the maximum and median number of application attempts for first-time applicants before they are successful in being invited to select a HDB flat.

Mr Desmond Lee: In both 2019 and 1H2020, more than half of the first timer families were successful at their first attempt in a Build-To-Order or Sale of Balance Flats exercise. The highest number of consecutive unsuccessful attempts before a successful attempt in 2019 and 1H2020 were 14 and 10 respectively. In these cases, the applicants had applied mostly for new flats in the mature estates.
