Incidents of Postpartum-related Depression and Suicides

10 Miss Rachel Ong asked the Minister for Health in the last five years how many (i) incidents of postpartum depression and (ii) suicides resulting from postpartum depression have there been amongst mothers.
Mr Ong Ye Kung: In the last five years, public healthcare institutions saw an average of 248 postpartum depression cases. Among these patients, there was an average of less than one suicide each year. Programmes for early detection and management of postpartum depression are available in polyclinics and public hospitals.
