Incidents of Fires in HDB Flats in Last Three Years

51 Dr Lily Neo asked the Minister for National Development (a) how many incidents of fires in HDB flats have there been in each of the last three years; and (b) what are the main causes of these fires.

Mr Lawrence Wong: Over the last three years, there has been an average of about 650 fire incidents reported per year in HDB flats. Fires in HDB flats are mainly due to unattended cooking, of electrical origin, or involve naked flames such as candles.
